I’m a generalist, and I work in tech; I have experience in UI/UX, PM, operations, and management.
I studied Philosophy at Oxford and Seattle Pacific University, with a particular interest in philosophy of language and epistemology (i.e. what it means to know something).
Deciding not to go to grad school, I worked in legal (not a good fit), then in 2011 moved into UX writing at the invitation of a former professor.
Meanwhile, my interests started expanding into cognitive science, human rationality and bias, and the ethics of technology.
Since then, my non-linear career has taken me through roles in UX and technical writing, customer success and support, consulting, operations, and program/product management.
More recently, I've begun a shift toward management, change management, communications, and facilitation as the larger goals of my career have begun to take shape: persuading and enabling large groups to work more efficiently and make better collective decisions.
I'm deeply interested in the ways corporate, political, and rivalrous dynamics distort human reasoning and creativity, and how we can use technology to enable collective action, avoid polarization, and create even playing fields so the best ideas win.
Current Work
I volunteer with Pol.is, a non-profit, real-time system for gathering, analyzing and understanding what large groups of people think in their own words, enabled by advanced statistics and machine learning. Polis has been used all over the world by governments, academics, independent media and citizens, and is completely open source.
Currently my 9-5 is as a Sr. TPM with WarnerMedia (HBO Max).
I also take occasional clients for interview coaching.
I'm on LinkedIn and Twitter; and I'm responsive on both.
Writing
Occasionally I write on Medium, and I have a separate page cataloguing some of my older writing.
Personal
I have two children, and I love soccer, climbing, frisbee, the outdoors, and eating good food.
